The (cruise) ship’s coming in

Just a day after presenting their master plan to the Queensland Government, ASF Consortium joined a sold-out Property Council luncheon to walk through the proposed Gold Coast Integrated Resort and Cruise Ship Terminal.

Project Director, Allan Fife from Fife Capital, provided an overview of the key stages in the project’s development, before Vaughan Davies from AECOM took guests on a counter-clockwise journey around Wave Break Island, pointing out the key features of the proposal.

The $7.5 billion world-class venture will feature:

  • six hotels with 2885 rooms
  • 31,000m2 of commercial floor space
  • an eco-resort on ‘Moon Island’, with up to 35 villas and a clubhouse, and
  • a cruise ship terminal, catering for 75 cruise ships per annum (175,000 passengers).

The keynote speakers were then joined on stage by the project’s architect, Paul Steelman from Steelman Partners, the operator, Eric Chiu from Global Gaming Asset Management, and Brian Haratsis from MacroPlan Dimasi, economic advisors for the project.

Mark Burow from Rider Levett Bucknall, and Chair of the Property Council’s Gold Coast Chapter, led a panel discussion with the five speakers.

Questions from the audience showed a keen interest in understanding how locals can be involved, what the economic benefits are for the community, and the next stages in the Government’s assessment process.

The Property Council would like to thank ASF Consortium and all of the speakers on the day for providing an opportunity for the property industry to be the first to see the revised plans for the Gold Coast Integrated Resort and Cruise Ship Terminal.

Thank you also to sponsors of the luncheon, Rider Levett Bucknall, for their generous sponsorship of this event and for their ongoing support of the Property Council.
