The Big Ask

The Property Council’s sold out Leading Women in Property Breakfast, The Big Ask, took place on Wednesday 17 October at Allens law firm in Brisbane.

The Big Ask focused on the tough questions that individuals face in the workplace: how to ask for a promotion, a well-earned pay rise, or tackling a tricky issue such as unpaid fees.

Amber Shannon, Director of Shannon Consultancy Group, and Ineke McMahon, Principal Consultant – Executive of Davidson, provided fantastic presentations on these complex topics, arming event attendees with the best tips to embark on these conversations and achieve clear, constructive communication.

Strategies to cope with the physical response to stress and anxiety, along with an outline of the types of information and pre-work needed ahead of a significant meeting, were shared with the group.

Following the presentations, Steve Leigh, Managing Director of QIC Global Real Estate, joined Amber and Ineke for a fantastic audience-driven panel discussion, which was moderated by Annabelle Aland, Managing Associate of Allens and member of the Property Council’s Diversity Committee.

The event was also live-streamed to Townsville, enabling regional members to participate in this valuable conversation.

Thank you to Amber, Ineke, Steve and Annabelle for contributing to this valuable event, and providing such open and honest advice. Thank you also to our hosts Allens, to the Townsville committee and everyone else who was involved in making this opportunity possible: Keir Steele, Townsville Earth Moving, Lancini Property and Development.
