Accomplishments:
Linda has a solid professional career working in land use planning, development assessment, policy planning and strategic planning in South Africa and Australia.
Prior to joining MasterPlan’s Darwin office in 2014, Linda was employed by the Northern Territory Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment as its Principal Policy Planner and then as Manager of Urban Planning.
In this capacity, Linda was responsible for leading and managing the provision of strategic planning advice to the Minister for Lands, Planning and the Environment, and to statutory bodies and agencies, on amendments to the NT Planning Scheme.
Linda delivered high level advice on statutory planning matters to the Department, the Development Consent Authority, Minister for Lands, Planning and the Environment and agencies, whilst managing a team in the provision of professional advice on development proposals.
Preparing and delivering policies relating to statutory and strategic planning so that land could be developed for sustainable economic, environmental and social benefit, was another important facet of Linda’s responsibilities.
Linda was also responsible for managing the NT Planning Scheme and Planning Act and Regulations.
This required her to proactively interact with other divisions/ departments and external agencies to ensure that their planning activities were strategically focused.
As a senior planner employed by the City of Cape Town from 1996 to 2006, Linda was responsible for both statutory and strategic planning. One of the highlights of her career was the responsibility for the co-ordination and approval of a 280,000 square metre (GWA) mixed use development consisting of a regional shopping centre, a hospital and residential uses.
From 2006 until 2010, while living in South Africa, Linda established and operated her own town planning consultancy – Linda Henning Town Planning and Property Consulting. During this time, Linda was responsible for the facilitation of mixed use, large scale residential and subdivision proposals.
Linda has valuable team building, negotiation and facilitation skills and can readily interpret complex legislation.
