Telstra New Developments PolicyThe Vertigan cost benefit review made recommendations around telecommunications infrastructure policy in new residential developments. Developments over 100 lots are dealt with by NBN Co and those under 100 by Telstra. Although consultations around the NBN New Development Policy as led by Minister Turnbull, NBN Co and the current NBN roadshows have been exhaustive, Telstra has been less than consultative.Telstra responded to the Vertigan review by releasing its New Developments Policy for telecommunications infrastructure for developments under 100 lots with little forewarning or consultation. The Residential Development Council’s criticism of the process has led to Telstra postponing any introduction for a minimum of 3 months to investigate the issues with the policy which could include backhaul charges and infrastructure charges. If you would like to provide input, feedback can be sent to the Property Council by way of Katharina Surikow at [email protected] or Nick Proud at [email protected].
