Talkin’ about a River-lution
Brisbane City Councillor and Chair of City Planning, Matthew Bourke launched the draft Brisbane City Council City Reach Waterfront Master Plan at a Property Council industry breakfast to an audience of over 1 property professionals.
After his keynote presentation, Councillor Matthew Bourke joined a panel discussion with Luke Fraser, Chief Executive Officer – Howard Smith Wharves, James Tuma, National Director Design – Urbis, moderated by Jen Williams, Queensland Property Council Deputy Executive Director.
Councillor Matthew Bourke told the audience that in preparing the draft, Brisbane City Council assessed and analysed the City Reach Waterfront against six qualities that typically define great waterfronts and had summarised the opportunities found into four key elements.
These include; extending and enhancing the current Riverwalk infrastructure into an eight-metre-wide unobstructed promenade, promoting and providing opportunities for more river access, integrating public art and lighting along the Riverwalk and ensuring consistent use of materials and landscaping to truly maximise the Riverwalks potential.
The Property Council welcomes the launch of the master plan and congratulates Brisbane City Council on progressing a critical policy initiative that engages the private sector and the community and builds a vision to better connect, transform and reshape Brisbane City for the future.
Consultation begun on 11 November 2019 and will close on 9 December 2019. For more information please visit the Brisbane City Council website.
