Sunshine Coast Lunch
The Property Council welcomed attendees to a sold-out event at the LakeHouse on the Sunshine Coast.
The event focused on highlighting the existing and emerging tourism infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast and how the region was poised to flourish off the back of a strong surge in interstate migration.
The panel featured Michael Hurley – Residential Development ARIA Property, Warwick Kahl – General Manager Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort, and Andrew Brodie CEO of Sunshine Coast Airport. The group delved into the growth prospects of the Sunshine Coast and how the region would capitalise on trends expedited by COVID-19.
Mr Kahl looked at the regions’ hotel industry and the growth of tourism in the region even prior to COVID. In the future there are gaps in the market to fill including the potential development of a five-star hotel which would enhance the region’s broader appeal.
Mr Hurley looked at the Sunshine Coast’s residential market including some of ARIA’s new offerings. He also addressed concerns that anti-development sentiment would inhibit growth and jobs in the region stating that those who invested in the Sunshine Coast had a vision and cared for the region.
Mr Brodie talked about the expansion of the Sunshine Coast Airport. Though it had been a difficult year for the airport the future was bright, and the airport was set to become a significant international as well as an interstate hub.
Special thanks to the panellists and event sponsors Rider Levett Bucknall.
