Sunshine Coast 2019 Market Outlook
The Property Council’s 2019 Sunshine Coast event series kicked off on Thursday 7 March, with the local industry converging on the Lakehouse at Mountain Creek for expert analysis on the year ahead for the city’s various property sectors.
Mark Wallace, Regional Technical Director – Economics at RPS, delivered an in-depth analysis of the factors influencing residential markets, across Australia and on the Sunshine Coast. While national economic uncertainty and a tightening of debt finance availability has been a focus of media attention, Mark believes that local momentum will be maintained in 2019.
Brendan Robins, Director – CBRE, provided insights on the non-residential markets, outlining the major developments that have impacted the local market, and what is expected to occur over the next twelve months. While Brendan predicts a tight period for retail and commercial sectors, industrial has become a shining light on the Sunshine Coast with strong demand experienced.
Following the presentations, Hannah Madill – Development Manager with Stockland’s Aura project joined Brendan and Mark on stage for a panel discussion moderated by Brad Williams, General Manager – Sunshine Coast with RPS.
Brad has been appointed as Chair of the Property Council’s Sunshine Coast committee for the 2019-2020 committee term.
All panellists agreed that the fundamentals of the local market were strong, and that a greater diversification of the local economy has contributed to less volatility.
