Sunset Clauses

The Queensland Government has last week opened public consultation to inform potential reforms to ‘better protect property buyers’ who use off the plan contracts.

Given the important role sunset clauses play in off the plan contracts and the significant scope for unintended consequences brought about by potential amendments, the Property Council will be lodging a comprehensive submission to Government.

Consultation is open until 14 September. Further information on buying off the plan is available through the Office of Fair Trading.
