StreetSLEEP helps young homelessThe Property Industry Foundation’s StreetSLEEP event is returning to Sydney for the second year in a row and will also take place in Brisbane for the first time.StreetSLEEP is an initiative of the Property Industry Foundation’s (PIF) PropertyBlitz program, a volunteer service comprising young community-minded business professionals trying to raise awareness and funds for homeless youths, many of whom have fled from dysfunctional or abusive home environments.Lend Lease will return as the partner of StreetSLEEP, with Parramatta City Council taking on the role of event sponsor in Sydney.Rosemary Smithson, national CEO of PIF, said the event gives young industry leaders an opportunity to understand the harsh realities of living rough on the streets.”This is a great opportunity for young people to come together and gain a real-life experience, to understand what it’s like to be homeless and the difficulties that are faced when living on the streets,” she said.In addition to educating industry professionals about the hardships experienced by disadvantaged youths, the event aims to build awareness and raise much-needed funds. Several guest speakers will share their experiences of homelessness with PropertyBlitz participants throughout the evening. The Sydney event will be held on 13 November and the inaugural Brisbane event will be held on 20 November. Registrations are now open. Registration is free, but sponsorship is highly encouraged, with a minimum $2 donation required to go towards a charity-building project. For further information about the StreetSLEEP fundraiser, visit: www.propertyblitzstreetsleep.com.au
