Strata and Community Bills Welcomed

The property industry strongly welcomes the introduction of two Bills to State Parliament to reform WA’s ageing strata laws and to introduce Community Titles to WA.

“It’s vital that we modernise WA’s strata laws to simplify the management of our new strata complexes, which are larger and have many more facilities than older complexes”, said Property Council WA Executive Director, Lino Iacomella.

“Community Titles are a new form of strata, which are perfectly adaptable to the growing number of precinct developments like METRONET stations.

“Community Titles will enable genuine mixes of property uses to be built and managed effectively in the new precincts.

“With the growing number of older strata complexes that are requiring major upgrades or redevelopment, it’s important that a fair process of terminating these schemes is introduced.

“The property industry is calling on all Members of State Parliament to support the strata reform Bills and quickly pass them into law.

“These reforms are important for job creation and achieving the high amenity urban centres required to support a diversified economy”, said Mr Iacomella.
