Statement of Planning Intent 2015The Property Council has provided a submission to government on its draft Statement of Planning Intent 2015. The statement is intended to outline key planning directions to guide Canberra’s growth into a major and sustainable city.Under the Planning and Development Act 2007, the Minister for Planning may set out the main principles that are to govern planning and land development in the ACT. This is through a written statement, the Statement of Planning Intent. The Environment and Planning Directorate must perform its functions taking the Statement into consideration.The Statement seeks to address contemporary global planning issues, such as:how we can grow into a more compact city while adapting to and mitigating climate change, andhow the city’s liveability, sustainability and prosperity can be assured while maintaining the city’s character and bush capital feel.The Property Council has addressed a number of key issues in its submission to assist the ACT Government to achieve its vision for Canberra:· Making Canberra Healthy and Smart· Growing the Economy· Enhancing Liveability and Opportunity· Investing in Urban Renewal.
