State of Play: Residential

The Property Council welcomed 170 attendees to the Hilton to examine the future of the residential market in Queensland.

The panellists included Bruce Harper – General Manager AVID Property, Michelle Wooldridge – Development Director Lendlease, Mark Creevey – Director Ray White Special Projects and Brook Monahan – Founder Mosaic Property Group. The discussion was moderated by Brad Jones – Director of Planning Wolter Consulting Group.

The outlook for the residential market following the end of the Federal Government’s HomeBuilder grant was a focal point of the conversation. Bruce Harper explained that AVID had seen very strong levels of inquiry for their land releases. This land being sold was not simply because of HomeBuilder but due to desirability and liveability of the Sunshine Coast.

Brook Monahan talked about Mosaic’s approach to a challenging 2020. He said that Mosaic was bullish on the future of South-East Queensland with a strong appetite seen across their portfolio in 2020. A range of infrastructure projects including Cross-River Rail was poised to increase this demand.

Mark Creevey discussed the importance of maintaining relationships during COVID. Social distancing requirements had made it harder to stay in touch but having these relationships in place was critical with activity returning following COVID.

Michelle Wooldridge used Lendlease’s development at Yarrabilba as a reference point and said that while HomeBuilder had brought forward demand.

Special thanks PEXA for sponsoring the event.
