State Government to consider draft Gold Coast City Plan

Gold Coast City Council voted in favour of the draft City Plan 2015 (the Plan) on the 10th of April. The Plan has now been sent to the Queensland Government for Ministerial approval to adopt.

In approving the Plan Gold Coast City Council considered over 2400 submissions made during the public notification period and decisions were made on whether or not to change the draft plan or mapping, or to defer the matter for further investigation. The updated draft plan is accessible online.

The Property Council lodged a submission on the Gold Coast draft City Plan 2015 covering the key issues of vegetation management, accommodating population growth, industrial zones, centres zones and flood overlays.

Mayor Tom Tate said “this plan will transform the shape of our city and it’s one we are very proud of.”

The Gold Coast Council believes the City Plan 2015 will help the city take full advantage of the significant opportunities that face the region including the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, revitalisation of key centres such as the Gold Coast CBD in Southport, and investment in our transport infrastructure.
