State Government announces Perth retail trading hours over Christmas and New Year
Last Friday, Commerce Minister John Quigley announced some changes to retail trading hours for Perth over the impending Christmas-New Year period. In total, retail stores will be able to open for an additional 35 hours, starting from Saturday 7 December.
Between Monday 16 December and Wednesday 1 January 2020, general retail stores will be able to open their doors from 7am. Sunday trading will be extended so that stores can open between 8am and 6pm, which also applies to Public Holidays during the period except Christmas Day itself. Saturday trading will be increased by an hour.
Australia Day 2020 falls on a Sunday, meaning the following Monday 27 January has been designated as the Australia Day Public Holiday. Shops trading on Monday 27 January will be able to open between 8am and 6pm, similar to the Sunday and Public Holiday trading hours available during the Christmas-New Year Period.
