Spotlight On: Wellbeing Leave – Part of Lendlease’s Flex Agenda
In 2016 Lendlease’s Building Business commenced a significant cultural change journey, to ensure its workplaces are an enjoyable and healthy place to work for a diverse range of people – by embracing flexible working.
The provision of flexible work practices and elimination of excessive hours was identified as being at the heart of tackling long established, industry-wide issues: skills shortages, lack of diversity and pockets of unhealthy cultural habits.
After several workshops with employees across the country, three key steps towards flexibility were identified: ensuring healthy hours of work, pioneering the ‘5 in 7’ work-week on sites, and promoting flexible work practices.
As one part of its wider-reaching flexible work agenda, Lendlease offers Wellbeing Leave to employees to support individual physical and mental wellbeing. This leave is provided in addition to regular leave employees are entitled to, such as Annual or Personal.
Wellbeing Leave can be taken as a full or half day and employees are entitled to a day every four months. As employees are encouraged to use the days for preventative physical and mental health, to positively impact their wellbeing, days do not carry over to the next four-month period. The whole point is to use them!
