Spotlight on the South lunch

The Property Council’s highly anticipated Gold Coast ‘Spotlight on the South’ lunch was held on Thursday 19th April at the Gold Coast’s decommissioned Airport GC2018 Lounge.

Featuring an exciting new style to match the unique venue, the event allowed guests to gain an exclusive look at some of the southern Gold Coast’s most anticipated projects.

Guests heard from Carl Bruhn, Executive General Manager of Property and Infrastructure for Queensland Airports on the many property projects being undertaken at the Gold Coast Airport. Aside from the significant hotel development, set to get underway this year, the Airport is seeking to invest heavily in infrastructure projects to increase the connectivity of the precinct.

John Witheriff, Chairman of GoldLinQ, provided a compelling overview of the journey ahead for the next stage of the Gold Coast light rail. John sees Stage 3A, which would bring the light rail down to Burleigh, as an opportunity to unlock further development in the city’s south. Future stages to bring the light rail down to the border, and potentially beyond, are being considered at a strategic level.

Following the presentations, a panel discussion was moderated by Lucy Ardern, General Manager of Corporate Affairs for Queensland Airports. Cr Gail O’Neill, Division 14 – City of the Gold Coast, joined the panel and outlined how she envisages the south of the city changing over the long term, emphasising her support for appropriate infill development.

The Property Council would like to thank the speakers and Queensland Airports Limited for hosting and sponsoring the event.
