Social Infrastructure Breakfast: Transforming the Delivery of Housing

On Thursday 11 November over 1 attendees convened at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to learn more about the Queensland Government’s Housing Investment Fund (HIF).

Keynote speakers Darren Scott, A/Deputy Director – General Housing and Homelessness Services spoke to the initiative and encouraged industry to leverage the fund and partner with Government to address Queensland’s escalating housing crisis.

Following this, Darren was joined on the panel by Katrina King, General Manager – QICGRE, Julie Saunders, Director – Urbis, and Peter Garrone, Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary – Brisbane Housing Company.

The panel shared their insights on topics such as funding models, site acquisitions and the need to be innovative in delivery of product and ensuring that client needs were met.

The overarching message was that social housing and affordable housing isn’t just about delivering a product, it is about ensuring positive outcomes for those that reside in that product.

Thank you to our keynote speakers and panellists for being so generous with their time and providing insights into this topical issue.

The procurement process is now open and the Queensland Government is eager to hear from the private sector on the best way forward to deliver social and affordable housing.
