#SmartDarwin
This month was the launch of the #SmartDarwin Strategy by City of Darwin. The Strategy provides a blueprint for the Darwin CBD to function as a “Smart City” with high tech data capabilities.
NT Executive Director, Ruth Palmer, along with Property Council Vice President, Manuel Liveris are members of the Smart City Advisory Board that provided strategic advice and approval for the $10 million Smart Cities Grant. This strategy will provide a tremendous benefit to the CBD and now is the time to leverage off this opportunity and really promote Darwin as a smart, liveable, productive and sustainable global city.
The funding boost will see new infrastructure and technology rolled out throughout the CBD and the Esplanade. Works along the Esplanade have already commenced with the installation of Smart Street Lighting and CCTV. This will go a long way in cleaning up the anti-social behaviour issues with known hot spots being activated by the Smart Cities technologies. Other new measures being installed include an expansion of the public Wi-Fi network, microclimate sensors and parking sensors.
The Property Council supports these initiatives and looks forward to continue being involved in the #SmartDarwin Strategy.
