SMART Pedestrian Project

On 24 October, the Property Council together with the University of Wollongong’s SMART Infrastructure Facility hosted an industry briefing on their SMART Pedestrian Project. The pilot project which has been co-developed with Liverpool Council uses cutting edge technology to track foot and vehicle traffic within a CBD to help improve planning outcomes.

The year-long project which kicked off in March 2018 will count pedestrian and vehicle movements around Liverpool’s rapidly growing city centre, collecting data from smart devices and camera technology to help the council make informed decisions about transport and urban planning.

This revolutionary project which was recently awarded the Best Local Government Initiative at the Committee for Sydney’s Smart City Awards, is leading the way in understanding how technology can help make our cities and communities a better place to live and work.

Thank you to Tania Brown, Chief Operating Officer – SMART Infrastructure Facility who was our guest speaker and to those attended the briefing, it was an insightful and interesting discussion!
