Silverstone Developments aids Queensland artsPrivately owned Brisbane-based property developer Silverstone Developments has donated close to $80,000 to Artslink Queensland, a non-profit organisation focused on connecting the people of Queensland with artistic and cultural activities. The donation to Artslink Queensland consolidates Silverstone Developments’ position as a major supporter of the arts in Queensland. The two organisations began working with each other several years ago when Silverstone Developments bought Artslink Queensland’s headquarters in Dutton Park as a development site. Since then, Silverstone Developments has worked closely with Artslink Queensland to find a suitable location for its new headquarters. Both organisations are now situated side by side in Silverstone Developments’ commercial development at 24 Macquarie Street in Brisbane’s thriving arts hub, Teneriffe. Silverstone Developments said the relationship with Artslink Queensland was integral to its community partnerships program. Artslink Queensland’s cultural programs and services are essential, it says, in sustaining Queensland’s civic engagement, social equity, cultural activity and regional economic growth. Artslink Queensland responded by saying that the donation would be used to ensure its ongoing support of Queensland’s local artists and arts programs. The $80,000 donated by Silverstone Developments will offset costs associated with maintaining Artslink Queensland’s Mr Rush Espresso Bar, named after Artslink Queensland’s associate artist and Academy Award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush AC. Mr Rush Espresso Bar is a social enterprise venture that commits all profits to delivering arts experiences to Queensland schools and communities while also supporting local artists and actors.
