SEQ Regional Plan SubmissionThe Property Council has provided a submission on the draft South East Queensland Regional Plan- Shaping SEQ, which was released for consultation in October.Fundamentally, the Property Council is concerned with the looming shortage of greenfield land supply in various markets across the region, and the Plan’s reliance on the delivery of fragmented land in order to meet dwelling targets. The submission focuses on three priority areas:Increasing land supply and unlocking fragmented landEstablishing a robust monitoring and reporting programImplementing a holistic approach to addressing environmental mattersA series of actions are included within each of these priority areas, to ensure the Plan delivers on its intention of providing a blueprint for the region’s growth.Of note, the Property Council has called for the establishment of an independent Housing Supply Council to monitor, report and make recommendations on the SEQRP. Given the importance of delivering adequate housing supply and its flow on impacts to affordability, this call has been supported by the Queensland Council of Social Services (QCOSS).The Property Council’s submission can be found below.
