September Commercial UpdateThe Property Council hosted four strong South Australian events in September.Deloitte hosted the inaugural Corporate Partner’s Boardroom Lunch, allowing our key sponsors an intimate setting in which to network and discuss issues affecting the industry. Deloitte Access Economics Associate Director, Aaron Hill, provided an compelling overview of the national economy which directed discussion across the table. Many thanks were of course extended to Deloitte for hosting the event, and we look forward to catching up with the Corporate Partners again soon.Almost 360 guests attended our AFL Leaders Lunch at the Adelaide Oval and were treated to a high-level panel talking coaching, finals and all things footy. Master of Ceremonies Belinda Heggen kept the day on track and we were grateful to have our panellists offer their time in the middle of the finals series, especially Adelaide Football Club CEO Andrew Fagan, who left the Oval to travel to Melbourne with the team for their finals clash with eventual premiers, Hawthorn. Many thanks to our event sponsors Sarah Construction and Alexander Symonds for their support in making the day a great success.Deputy Premier and Minister for Planning, the Honourable John Rau MP, provided an overview of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Bill (2015) and responded to questions from the audience at a member-only briefing. James Levinson, from Botten Levinson Lawyers, capably moderated the discussion at KPMG’s impressive and agile new workspace on Pirie Street. Finally, world-renowned placemaker Ethan Kent addressed more than 1 guests in the Banqueting Room at the Adelaide Town Hall, taking about the importance of place and the need to work together to create vibrant cities. Having visited more than 7 cities in 55 countries, Ethan has a broad range of experiences from which to draw upon and took questions from the floor along with The Right the Honourable Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Martin Haese, regarding the next steps for Adelaide’s development as a world-class city. Many thanks to Renewal SA for their support of this blockbuster event.Looking ahead to this month, our Retail Business Lunch on Friday 23 October at the Adelaide Convention Centre features representatives from global and local brands such as ZARA, M.J. Bale, Scentre Group, Woods Bagot and Endota Spa to discuss the issues affecting the retail sector.
