SDAP amendment gives Queensland Heritage Council stronger role

The Queensland Government has amended the State Development Assessment Provisions (SDAP) to formally engage the Queensland Heritage Council in scrutinising development applications relating to state heritage places.

In preparing its response to relevant applications, the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA) will now be required to obtain advice from the both the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection and the Queensland Heritage Council.

The change has been introduced by the State Government in response to concerns raised by the Queensland Heritage Council during consultation on the Government’s new planning legislation

The latest version of the SDAP (Version 1.8) will come into effect on 22 April 2016.
