All committees are open for nomination, including:Committee for AdelaideIndustrial Development CommitteeShopping Centres CommitteeResidential Development CommitteeEconomic & Infrastructure Development CommitteePlanning & Urban Design CommitteeFuture Directions CommitteeTaxation & Finance CommitteeRetirement Living Committee Facilities Management CommitteeBuilding Standards & Technical Regulations Committee Mainstreets CommitteeCommittee ReformI might just take this opportunity to reflect on the way that committees have been operating in recent times. Put simply, the committee process needs to be reformed. Not only that, they need to become outcome focussed and results driven to ensure that we are driving strategic policy priorities. That’s why at the first meeting next year, each committee will set three top priorities for 2015. And these priorities will be closely adhered to and tracked throughout the year. We are also examining our strategic agenda setting, committee projects, and the frequency of committee meetings to ensure that your time is best utilised. Gender ImbalanceI’ll also take this opportunity to talk about the massive gender imbalance we currently have across our committees. In the best interests of the property industry, we need more women participating in our committees – we need to become champions of change here in South Australia. Some say that diversity is about counting the numbers; whereas inclusiveness is about making the numbers count. So I ask you to have a good think about those working for you and with you and consider how you can help make the Property Council of SA’s governance structure more inclusive. Next Steps Please get in touch should you have any queries about the nomination process or the work of our committees. Our new Senior Policy Advisor, Sally Burridge is very happy to discuss our committees with you and we value hearing your feedback. She can be reached on 8236 0907 or [email protected] close Friday 9 January 2015. Nominees will be shortlisted and final committee composition ratified by the Property Council’s Division Council at its February meeting. We look forward to receiving your nominations, and once again thank you for your commitment to improving this great industry – an industry that represents 11.5 per cent of the state’s workforce and pays 40 per cent of the state’s taxation revenue.Daneil Gannon Executive Director SA Division
