ROADMAP TO EASING RESTRICTIONS REVEALED

The Queensland Government have released a staged approach to easing COVID-19 restrictions.

The announcement follows the National Cabinet’s three step plan for easing Coronavirus restrictions. The Queensland Government’s approach is also in three stages.

Stage 1: The first stage commences at 11.59 pm on Friday 15 May. Under this stage, gatherings of up to 10 people are allowed in public including, pubs, restaurants and cafes. For the Property Industry, groups of up to 10 are also permissible at open homes and auctions. People will also be able to undertake recreational travel of distances up to 1km.

Stage 2: This stage will commence 11:59PM Friday 12 June. In this stage people will be able to travel up 2km away from their home. Up to 20 people will also be allowed at public gatherings including the venues and events listed in Stage 1.

Stage 3: The Government hopes to begin Stage 3 in July. This third stage will likely incorporate a review of border closures and potentially allow gatherings of up to 100 people.

The easing of restrictions is likely to coincide with many workers returning to work across various sectors. The Property Council has been communicating with government on the practicality and potential risk of staff returning to work in commercial premises.

Safe Work Australia have also issued comprehensive guidance to help businesses plan a safe return to work. This includes information to help businesses reconfigure worksites to make them safe, respond to incidents in the workplace and communicate with staff.

The Property Council will continue to work with government to ensure that the easing of COVID-19 restrictions is managed appropriately across all property sectors.
