Packed to the rafters is the only way you can describe the Rise and Rise of Construction costs at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane on 4 May. Construction industry heavyweights flocked to the event to get the lowdown on what to expect when it comes to construction costs.

The first keynote speaker Robert Sobyra, Director of Research & Digital at Construction Skills Queensland kicked off proceedings, giving an insight into market trends and what industry can expect in the short-term, delivering it all with trademark humour.

Robert was frank – Queensland’s construction costs are impacted by myriad factors, from a war on Continental Europe to lockdowns in Shanghai, every piece fits somewhere into the puzzle. Yet, Robert’s deep dive into the data cemented that there is no surprise “the pipeline is chockas” and Queensland’s construction industry will continue to surge.

A tough act to follow, but second keynote speaker Jim Demack, Partner at Gadens rose to the occasion sharing his legal expertise and contractual obligations as we continue to navigate multiple economic factors. With a stellar career of property knowledge under his belt, attendees were given a masterclass by the legal eagle.

Capping the event off the two keynotes were joined on stage by Jamie Smith, Director at Rider Levett Bucknall, Brook Monahan, Managing Director at Mosaic Property Group and Allison Turner, New Business Manager at Buildcorp.

Bringing together this expert panel at the coalface of Queensland’s construction industry, we learned that there is plenty of optimism to be had about the future of construction in Queensland.

This popular event was made possible by RCP, we would like to thank them for their ongoing support of the Queensland Breakfast series.
