Retirement Villages Interim CodeMinister Mischin has approved a further interim code to take effect following the expiry of the current code on 30 September 2014.This decision has been made following the determination that there was not adequate time to address the complex matters that came out of the submissions made to the Consumer Protection Division of the Department of Commerce on the consultation drafts for a new revised code and associated section 14A regulations.The new interim code will expire on 31 March 2015, though the Minister intends to replace it with the revised code before this time.In correspondence with the Property Council, the Minister noted the significant contribution made by the organisation to the statutory review and the amendment of the retirement village legislation. The Property Council will continue to work closely with the Department of Commerce to ensure that the revised code protects the interests of both the retirement village industry and consumers alike.
