Retirement Living Code of Conduct Resident Briefing Wrap-Up

At the heart of the Retirement Living Code of Conduct is residents, they are the reason for its conception, and they are the reason that there is continuous work behind the scenes to maintain the high expectations that are set out by the Code.

On 13 August the Retirement Living Council hosted a free online briefing that was specifically tailored and targeted at residents of retirement communities, to educate them on the benefits of moving into, living in and moving out of a Code Village.

The briefing was wildly successful, with over 270 registrations from residents across the country, and curious industry professionals and operators that wanted to learn more about this great industry initiative.

Joined by Megan Hobson the Code Administrator, and two members of the Code Review Panel: Dr Elizabeth Lanyon the Independent Chair of the Code Review Panel, and Alistair Christie the Resident Representative.

All speakers shared insights on what they thought was important about the Code. All of them having played an integral role in discussing and subsequently improving the Code.

Following the speakers, there was a question and answer segment. This Q&A session proved to be very popular, as residents were able to directly interact with the speakers to understand what the Code means and what it can do for them.

You can download these questions and answers here if you would like to read through what resident’s wanted to know, and you can access a full recording of the briefing here if you missed it. It is hoped that briefings such as this one will lead to greater industry take up and interest of the Code, as residents understand just how important this industry initiative is.
