Retirement is one big pool party in Happy ValleyThe 285 residents of Stockland’s Hillsview Retirement Village in Happy Valley have celebrated the official opening of a new, $200,000 heated pool and spa facility within their community. The refurbished pool features solar and gas heating for residents’ use all year round, and has been specially designed to accommodate water exercise activities such as aqua aerobics and aqua therapy. The upgraded facility features new roofing to create a welcoming environment in all temperate extremes, as well as an outdoor entertainment area and improved change room facilities. Special guest, Mayor Lorraine Rosenberg, Onkaparinga Council, joined Stephen Bull, Group Executive and CEO of Retirement Living at Stockland, and residents and staff at Hillsview village to officially unveil the new facility. Stephen Bull said: “We are very pleased to create such a fantastic facility for our Hillsview residents. This is another great example of Stockland’s commitment to our villages in South Australia. This new pool will not only benefit our current residents, but will also be a draw card for the village for future residents looking for a modern, low maintenance home within a healthy, active and very friendly village.” Stockland continues to respond to strong demand from the growing number of retirees in South Australia who want to buy a low maintenance, well appointed, self-contained home within a dedicated retirement community. South Australia has one of the strongest retirement living markets in the country with the highest penetration of over 65s living in retirement villages at around 8.5 per cent. Stephen Bull continues: “As one of Australia’s top operators in Retirement Living, with over 11,000 residents living in 69 Stockland villages across Australia, we’re consistently striving to offer our residents the highest possible standard in retirement living. We’ll continue to improve year on year and offer our residents a better way to live.” Stockland’s $200,000 investment in the refurbished swimming pool at Hillsview Retirement Village follows the company’s recent acquisition of eight South Australian retirement villages from Masonic Homes in June 2015. Hillsview Retirement Village was part of the portfolio of villages acquired.
