Retirement and Aged Care Amendments
Brisbane City Council is asking for industry feedback on proposed amendments to City Plan 2014 to support its retirement and aged care package of incentives.
Council is proposing amendments to the Brisbane City Plan 2014, which would allow for a more streamlined approach to building, upgrading and extending residential care facilities and retirement facilities.
The benefits of a more streamlined approach to assessing retirement and aged care properties would allow the industry to more easily meet the increasing housing demands of the aging population. Brisbane City Council estimates these housing requirements are expected to increase by % by 2027.
The Property Council has publicly expressed support for Council’s focus on retirement villages and aged care facilities, however raised concerns with the decision to withdraw proposed amendments that would have made it easier to co-locate retirement facilities on privately owned sport and recreation zoned land.
Submissions on the proposed amendments are due by Friday 21 September 2018.
