Resilience in the Face of Adversity Livestream

The Property Council has launched its first fully virtual event – Resilience in the face of adversity. The livestream, originally organised by the Property Council’s Queensland Diversity Committee as a live event was re-arranged to be fully online due to the impact of COVID-19.

166 people tuned in to hear from an excellent line up of guest speakers including Dr Neil Carrington – CEO for Act for Kids, Bruce Harper – General Manager Queensland, AVID Property Group and Queensland President of the Property Council, and, Anita Sandeman – Director Strategic Systems & Services Queensland Fire & Emergency Services. Together, the guest speakers shared their experiences and lessons in overcoming diversity.

The keynote speaker, Dr Neil Carrington discussed his experience in helping leaders develop culture and teamwork within their organisations. He reinforced the need for teams to be able to differentiate between alignment and agreement to ensure the capability of a team was maximised.

Bruce Harper discussed how resilience would be critical in the upcoming period, which is sure to be testing due to the impact of COVID-19. However, challenges such as this can often bring teams closer as they rally around a common goal.

Anita Sandeman spoke about her career working in emergency services and how learning from front line workers had helped her develop resilience and overcome challenges.

The livestream discussion was expertly moderated by Annabelle Aland – Partner Allens, and member of the Property Council’s Queensland Diversity Committee.

The event was the first of the livestreamed event series that the Property Council is rolling out due to the impact of COVID-19. To view future events, please click here.
