Residential Development Council to appear as witness before Senate Housing Affordability InquiryThe Residential Development Council will provide evidence at the Senate Economics References Committee into Housing Affordability this week.In a submission to the Committee earlier in 2014, the Residential Development Council argued that housing affordability was a national problem that requires innovative responses. In particular it calls on the Federal Government to consider housing affordability in the upcoming Federation White Paper process and for the recalibration of existing housing affordability policies.Recalibrating the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS), National Affordable Housing Agreement (NAHA) and a suite of innovative housing affordability measures are central components. This includes a Federal involvement in development assessment reform. The Federal Government is well placed early in its first term to lead a multi-lateral approach across Federal issues such as housing.
