Regional Transport Plans Released for Consultation

The State Government has released 9 draft Regional Transport Plans for public consultation, to help guide the planning of an efficient and responsive transport system for Queensland over the next 15 years. The final Mackay Isaac Whitsunday Regional Transport Plan has also been released.

Regional Transport Plans aim to communicate the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ planning intent for each region, and establish common transport priorities between the Queensland Government and local governments.

With the population in South East Queensland alone expected to increase by 2 million people over the next 25 years, it is imperative that Regional Transport Plans- aligned with land use plans and other infrastructure plans- are in place to guide the delivery of good growth.

The current draft Regional Transport Plans available for comment include:
• Central West Regional Transport Plan
• Darling Downs Regional Transport Plan
• Far North Regional Transport Plan
• Fitzroy Regional Transport Plan
• Northern Queensland Regional Transport Plan
• North West Regional Transport Plan
• South East Queensland Regional Transport Plans
• South West Regional Transport Plan
• Wide Bay Burnett Regional Transport Plan

Submissions on each of the Regional Transport Plans are due by Friday, 1 March 2019.

For more information on the Regional Transport Plans or to provide feedback to the Department visit the Government’s website.
