Regional Retirement ForumsThe Property Council of Australia hosted the inaugural NSW Regional Retirement Forum in March at Sugar Valley Lifestyle Estate in the Hunter region. The village is owned and operated by private Sydney group AEH Retirement Living.Around 30 local owners, operators and industry contributors attended the forum which kicked off with an update on the agenda, objectives and results of the Retirement Living Council given by AEH Retirement Living Chief Operating Officer Michael Rabey.Marc Wyld, Senior Associate from Thomson Greer then gave a briefing on legal implications and outcomes from recent Tribunal cases before providing a detailed update on the Living Longer, Living Better aged care reforms and the likely impacts to the retirement sector.The session concluded with a Q&A and morning tea provided by the Sugar Valley Social Committee. These forums are designed to bring together sector participants to discuss the challenges and opportunities we face as an industry whilst overlaying particular local issues.
