Refreshed NSW Division Council in place

A refreshed NSW Division Council will spearhead the Property Council’s efforts to transform the planning system, drive urban renewal, modernise infrastructure and overhaul local government.

The new team was announced today following a recent election of members with Mirvac’s Group Executive – Commercial Development, David Rolls, re-appointed as President.

The Division Council comprises industry leaders across funds management, property management, development, the full suite of asset classes and service providers.

“NSW fresh economic momentum is exciting and the property industry is central to the story,” Mr Rolls said.

“We want to see our commitment to jobs, prosperity and stronger communities reflected in the policy settings from governments.

“A total overhaul of the State’s planning laws remains unfinished business, asset recycling is needed to fund infrastructure and modernised local government is essential.

“There is also a real challenge facing Sydney in particular to identify and deliver the next wave of urban renewal that a growing city will require.”

The Property Council’s NSW Executive Director Glenn Byres welcomed the incoming members – and thanked those who had finished on Division Council at the end of 2014.

“The policy platform pieced together for the 2015 NSW election is ambitious, but also one with a clear focus on implementation that should make it easy for governments,” he said.

“We are continuing to pour more resources into our advocacy campaigns, as well as work with members on creating high-value professional development and networking opportunities.

“Over 230 industry volunteers sit on our committees and over 17,000 attended our events last year – and we thank the members greatly for their support.”

The 14 elected members are:

  • David Rolls (President) – Mirvac Group
