Reforms to public construction a win for industry
A Government paper identifying reforms to deliver infrastructure projects more efficiently has been welcomed by the Property Council.
Reforming Public Construction identified several opportunities for reforming government procurement processes, across three broad areas:
-
greater standardisation of procurement processes across government;
-
reducing unnecessary time and costs to industry in tender processes; and,
-
improving government capability and planning in construction procurement.
The Property Council has long called for reforms to foster increased competition within Government’s infrastructure and procurement activities. We believe that these reforms will deliver greater benefits to Victoria’s communities and send a clear signal to the market that Victoria will no longer put up with high costs for infrastructure delivery.
