Queensland Waste Levy Delayed
The Queensland Government has delayed the re-introduction of the Queensland Waste Levy to 1 July 2019, moved from the initial start date of 1 January 2019.
The increased charge will be applied to all waste distributed to Queensland landfill sites and will have a higher price per tonne, starting at $75 – $1 per tonne, and increasing every year for the next five years.
The Property Council submitted feedback to the Waste Reduction and Recycling (Waste Levy) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2018, calling for the Government to acknowledge measures that would prevent costs being passed down to Queensland households.
