The role of the Queensland Small Business Commissioner had been made permanent with legislation passing in the State Parliament on Tuesday evening. The Small Business Commissioner Bill outlines the permanent functions of the Commissioner, which have been in effect since the State Government implemented its COVID-19 recovery measures.
The Small Business Commissioner will work with businesses to provide dispute resolutions services, under the Retail Shop Leases Act 1994, as well other small business disputes. This legislation will come into effect on 3 May.
The Property Council has been supportive of the permanent establishment of a Queensland Small Business Commissioner, and you can read our submission here.
