Queensland Government provides direction on infrastructureThe Deputy Premier, Hon Jackie Trad MP has recently released the Delivering an Infrastructure Plan for Queensland directions paper.Importantly the directions paper provides a commitment to delivering a state infrastructure plan in early 2016. It is proposed that the infrastructure plan will set a strategic direction which fosters innovation in planning, investment, delivery and use of infrastructure. This will be achieved through following directions that are aimed at revitalising Queensland’s infrastructure approach: Planning and assessment Funding and financing Procurement and delivery Efficient use and management The Government proposes Queensland’s Infrastructure Plan will provide two distinct approaches to communicating priorities:Providing stakeholders with a four year credible pipeline of projects that are approaching procurement and construction, along with a list of projects currently underway. Highlighting specific challenges and opportunities over the next 15 years and beyond. Feedback and comments can be provided to the Government on the directions paper before 1 July. The Property Council will be lodging a submission on the directions paper, highlighting the importance of working with the private sector, and reinforcing the vital link between infrastructure and land use planning.The Directions Paper is available here.
