Queensland Government begins Housing Strategy consultation

Queensland Government begins Housing Strategy consultationThe Queensland Government has released the ‘Working together for better housing and sustainable communities’ discussion paper, aimed at seeking community feedback in the development of a state-wide Housing Strategy. The discussion paper explores a wide range of challenges facing Queensland including housing affordability, homelessness, the ageing population and sustainability. Inclusionary zoning and a developer affordable housing levy are amongst a wide range of policy responses explored in the paper. Submissions in response to the discussion paper are due by 20 May. Further information on making a submission can be found on the Government’s consultation website. The consultation will shape the Government’s Queensland Housing Strategy, which will set a 10 year policy approach across this broad range of housing related issues.
