Queensland Draft Transport Strategy Released

Queensland Government has opened consultation on the draft Queensland Transport Strategy, a 30-year plan designed to help guide the state’s transport systems.

The draft transport strategy will embrace new and emerging technologies that will drive the sector and create new jobs, incorporating the opportunities presented by electric vehicles, low and zero emission vehicles, demand responsive transport, automated vehicles and drones.

The document is divided into five outcomes:
– Accessible, convenient transport
– Safe journeys for all
– Seamless, personalised journeys
– Efficient, reliable and productive transport for people and goods
– Sustainable, resilient and liveable communities

The five strategic outcomes have been designed to work with the Transport Coordination Plan 2017-2027.

The Property Council is supportive of a long-term strategic infrastructure plan that outlines transport plans over the next 30-years, while also aligning with the state’s land use planning framework.

Consultation closes on Friday 24 May and the final document is due to be released at the end of 2019.
