Queensland Breakfast: The Metro Opportunity

The Property Council’s Queensland Breakfast: The Metro Opportunity, took place on Wednesday 22 May at The Sofitel, Brisbane.

Guests attended the breakfast to hear about the Metro’s latest developments, directly from Brisbane City Council’s new Deputy Mayor, Cr Krista Adams.

Cr Adams provided an overview of the 21-kilometre, 18 station Metro line, which is planned to commence in 2023.

Two lines are planned to run along dedicated busways between Eight Mile Plains and Roma Street; and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and University of Queensland. Cr Adams also spoke to the redevelopment of Adelaide Street, which is currently open for community and industry consultation.

Kirsty Smith, Managing Director of Kelen Property and Property Council Queensland Division Council member, moderated a panel discussion with Cr Adams, Michael Zaicek, Commercial Manager – Aria Property and Daniel Sutton, Regional General Manager, Shopping Centres – Vicinity Centres.

The panel spoke to the incredible opportunities presented by the new Metro project, speaking to the need to make Brisbane a 24-hour city, with activated retail, dining and entertainment precincts.

The Property Council would like to thank Cr Adams for presenting at the breakfast and our panel speakers for participating in a fascinating conversation. Thank you also to our Major Sponsor – RCP and Support Sponsor – Brisbane City Council.
