Queensland Breakfast: Brisbane’s Global Precincts

At the Property Council’s latest Queensland breakfast, event attendees heard insights from property industry experts on the best ways to deliver Brisbane’s global precincts.

Dr Tim Moonen, Managing Director of The Business of Cities – UK- and co-author of Creating Great Australian Cities–  provided a thought-provoking presentation on the crucial factors behind precinct development, and explained how precinct partnerships are vital to Brisbane’s development.

Precinct partnerships provide long-term vision, resource allocation, strategic leadership and coordination, which enable precincts to develop successfully.

Following Tim’s presentation, the audience enjoyed a panel discussion with Tim, Michelle Lee, General Manager – Precinct Development for Brisbane Marketing; Geoff McIntyre, Managing Director of JLL; and Richard McLachlan, Development Director of Herston Quarter – Australian Unity Property.

The panel spoke to Brisbane’s established precincts, the role that government and industry can play in developing Brisbane’s next precincts and how this will assist in achieving the overall aim of creating great places.

The Property Council would like to thank Tim, Michelle, Geoff and Richard for providing their insights on this exciting discussion. Thank you also to our event sponsor, RCP.

* Dr Tim Moonen will be speaking to the Property Council’s new research project- Creating Great Places – at the Future Cities Summit in Sydney on Friday, 24 May. Further information and registrations, here.
