Queen’s Wharf Development Briefing
Property Council members received an exclusive briefing, on Friday 8 September, on the plans for the multibillion dollar Queen’s Wharf integrated resort development.
Urbis National Design Director, James Tuma – Chair of the Property Council’s Queensland Committee for Cities, provided a contextual overview of the project and how it is placed to change the face of Brisbane. Queen’s Wharf represents a game-changer for the city, with the new precinct set to act as a significant attractor for tourism and investment.
Following James’ presentation, Simon Crooks – Destination Brisbane Consortium’s Project Director, dived into the detail of the consortium’s 10,000 page Plan of Development for the Queen’s Wharf project. Simon outlined progress to date and how the masterplan aims to deliver new premium hotels, gaming facilities, retail precincts, and extensive public realm while protecting the area’s heritage and seamlessly connecting with the existing city.
A moderated question and answer session followed Simon’s presentation, providing the sold-out crowd with the opportunity to learn more about the complex project.
As part of the assessment process, Economic Development Queensland is now seeking public comment on the Plan of Development. The public consultation period will be open until 19 October 2017.
The Property Council would like to thank Simon and James for taking the time to present to our members on this exciting project. This event would not have been possible without the support of hosts Clayton Utz.
