Qld Retirement Living Conference: Changing with the Times

The Property Council 2017 Queensland Retirement Living conference, held on Friday 2 June, explored how and why potential customers’ needs are changing with the times.

Mick De Brenni MP, Minister for Housing and Public Works, opened the conference with an address that foreshadowed potential legislative reform for the sector in the impending Queensland Housing Strategy.

Presentations and panel discussions throughout the morning explored the challenges facing asset owners in delivering new seniors’ housing or redeveloping an existing asset.

From opportunities to integrate retail and commercial uses, through to the implications of vertical villages and consumer directed care, the twelve speakers throughout the sessions and subsequent lunch event, explored how the traditional seniors’ housing offering is facing disruption from a number of angles.

The Property Council would like to thank all the speakers and moderators involved in the conference and lunch sessions for contributing to the event’s success. Thanks must also go to supporting sponsors Minter Ellison, Five.Good.Friends and G Developments for helping make this event a reality.
