Purpose Built Student Accommodation is one of the fastest growing sectors driving Australia’s engagement with the world.
Across our key cities, Student Accommodation is increasingly home to future leaders in the Asia Pacific region as well as a generation of Australian students.
This sector offers young people in Australia safe, vibrant and dynamic spaces to live and study in, so they can focus on their learning and make life-long memories – without housing stress. Student Accommodation is a critical support industry for our third biggest export – the international education sector.
Prior to COVID-19, this sector contributed $40.1 billion of activity in the Australian economy. We are a growing industry that is increasing housing choice for students while creating ongoing jobs in the property sector.
International students are now returning to Australian shores with around 181,000 students arriving in the first half of 2022, and this number is set to steadily increase. As our students return, the growth in the PBSA sector increase to meet the demand for Australia’s world-class education institutions.
The Student Accommodation Council was created to advocate for, and on behalf of, the PBSA sector. We understand that more student accommodation means more housing choice, more jobs and more economic growth for our critical education sector.
