Proposed Changes to Christmas Trading Hours
The Department of Commerce has requested Comment from the Property Council of Australia (WA) on proposed changes to the 2016 Christmas retail trading hours.
Metropolitan general retail shops can currently trade from 8.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Friday, from 8.00am to 5.00pm on Saturdays and from 11.00am to 5.00pm on Sundays and public holidays excluding Christmas Day, Good Friday and ANZAC Day.
One option the Department of Commerce is considering will be to allow general retail shops to trade from 7.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Friday, from 7.00am to 6.00pm on Saturdays and from 8.00am to 6.00pm on Sundays and public holidays.
Under this proposal, the only day of closure during the extended trading period will be Christmas Day.
