‘Property Prophets’ send positive signal

For the second year running 2 property professionals had the opportunity to absorb detailed research provided from our panel of ‘Property Prophets’ on the State’s industrial, retail, commercial and residential sectors.

The luncheon was moderated by the Australian Financial Review’s Matthew Cranston, with our experts predicting three of the four property sectors to have a solid year.

Nerida Conisbee, National Director – Research for Colliers International got the ball rolling with a prediction of increased activity in the industrial sector.

This was followed by Savills Divisional Director of Research – Paul Day predicting retail to be the shining light over the next year. With the audience once again being armed with red and green paddles there was a high level of scepticism with this prediction.

There were no big surprises when Carol Hodgson, Director of Strategic Research and Queensland Head of Research for JLL provided research showing it will be a tough year in the commercial market.

However, Tim Lawless, CoreLogic RP Data’s National Research Director predicted more growth in the residential sector.  One of the key drivers will be lower prices compared with other major cities.

The Property Council would like to sincerely thank Matthew Cranston for taking the time to moderate the luncheon, as well as each of our ‘Property Prophets’. Special thanks must also go to our supporting sponsor KPMG SGA.
