Property data at your fingertips

Australia’s largest source of economic and property-related data is expanding. And best of all, the Property Council’s Data Room is free for anyone to explore.

According to the Property Council’s national research manager John Nguyen, the Data Room was launched in November 2017, doubling website traffic within the first month.

Since then, Property Council members have provided valuable feedback on ways to enhance the Data Room, with new features launched this week.

“Research and data are integral components of understanding the property industry, and the Data Room allows our members to easily access freely-available economic and property-related data from one single source,” Nguyen explains.

“New features of the Data Room allow users to download and share interactive data sets viewed on the site. Users can easily insert economic and property-related data into reports and share results with others via email.”

With more than 80 data sets across 12 categories, the Data Room is Australia’s most comprehensive source of economic and property related data.

The Data Room pulls information from a range of sources, from the hard data produced by the Australian Bureau Statistics to sentiment reports like the ANZ/Property Council Survey. Nguyen says each data release “uncovers interesting stories”.

The “overwhelmingly positive” feedback from members has encouraged Nguyen and his team to continue to expand the Data Room’s offerings. A new research blog will be launched shortly to provide deep dives into interesting statistics and ongoing analysis.

“We are absolutely committed to creating a valuable resource for our members, so that they can continue to lay the case for the property industry’s contribution to our economy and communities,” Nguyen concludes.
