Property Council welcomes Urbis as WA Corporate Partner
The Property Council is delighted to announce that Urbis has signed on as Corporate Partner for 2017/18.
We sat down with Urbis Regional Director Ray Haeren to discuss how Urbis and the Property Council will work together to keep WA Growing.
“Urbis is excited and pleased to be joining the Property Council as a Corporate Partner in WA. As an existing Corporate Partner in Victoria, NSW, and Queensland we have been eager to deepen our relationship with the Property Council in WA as represented in our existing membership of Committees, forums, and Research. As we approach our 10th anniversary in Western Australia, this reflects our continued growth and penetration into the local market.
“I consider Urbis’ position with the Property Council nationally as providing an opportunity to work on shared national issues, particularly given the increasing role and appetite in the Federal Government in city policy, housing and urban infrastructure as signified by the current City Deals initiative. Similarly, our capacity and desire to influence local issues affecting the urban environment, property development and economy is demonstrated.
“We see strong alignment with the Property Council and its members in our purpose and a common theme in shaping better cities, which must be driven by the development sector. Despite current challenges facing the property sector in Western Australia, there has been a marked shift in the move toward a more urban outcome and diversifying our economy and housing choice.
“Going forward, we need to get smarter in our thinking and more robust in our delivery and development or property. Many elements of the development landscape are increasingly dynamic in response to the changes in social, demographic, technological and statutory environments. This is not to be feared but to be embraced, however just requires a more informed and sophisticated response. Just because something has always worked before no longer provides certainty going forward.
“We look forward to working with the Property Council and its members in developing informed ideas and solutions to the challenges and maximising the opportunities of making Perth a great city,” Mr Haeren said.
